Teen arrested after robbery at Harris Teeter

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – On Sunday, February 11, 2018 at approximately 2:33 p.m. authorities received a call in reference to a shoplifting at Harris Teeter in Mount Pleasant.

John Avery Brown, 19, has been charged with armed robbery, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and public drunkenness.

While authorities were in route to the Harris Teeter, dispatched advised that the male suspect showed he complainant a firearm while walking out of the business.

Authorities were able to spot Brown at the rear of the business.

When asked to empty his pockets, he threw a pocket knife on the ground. While being patted down for additional weapons, Brown attempted to run.

Once on the ground, Brown was putting up a fight with the authorities causing a struggle to be handcuffed.

After finally being handcuffed, Brown also had two pocket knives, one expandable black baton, one silver and tan X-CP BB gun, three plastic bags containing green leafy substance, bottle of Fireball Whiskey, an iphone, and one bottle of  Paddy Irish Whiskey.
