3-year-old struck, killed in Dorchester County

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run collision involving a driver who struck and killed a 3-year-old in Dorchester County.

The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 78 near New Meadow Drive in the Reevesville area.

The toddler was struck while in the roadway at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is now using state-of-the-art technology to analyze the crash site.
