Ex-cop Michael Slager now in Colorado federal prison

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — Former North Charleston police officer sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting an unarmed motorist to death is now at a Colorado federal prison.

Michael Slager is now an inmate at the Englewood Federal Correctional Institution in Littleton, Colorado.

The 36-year-old was transferred on February 2 from the Charleston County jail, according to court records. Slager was held there since December.

Englewood is a “low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp and a detention center,” according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The institution, with a population of 1,115, only hoses male offenders,

Slager’s projected release date is January 2, 2034.
