RESTAURANT REPORT CARD: Inspectors document hand washing violations amid flu season

During the week of February 1 through February 8, Department of Health and Environmental Control restaurant inspectors gave 1 C grade and multiple B grades.

Las Lupitas on Remount Road received a C grade during a follow up inspection from a C grade given January 23.

The report notes employees were not using soap to wash their hands. There should be a follow up inspection by February 12.

Some of the B grades this week include:

Jackie’s Restaurant on River’s Avenue because the facility did not have hot water.

La Hacienda on River’s Avenue for improper dish and hand washing, among other violations.

The Mustard Seed in Mt. Pleasant for bare hands reportedly making contact with croutons and lettuce. Cold foods were also kept too warm, and breading station was exposed to contaminants from the hand sink.

Sushi Blue

Wyndham Garden Hotel in Mt. Pleasant

UPDATES:

Kanpai Japanese Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant now has an A grade after it received a C grade last week.

Crust on James Island and China Dragon in North Charleston also have A grades now after last week receiving B grades.
