GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a fatal crash in Georgetown County.
Troopers say on Sunday, January 21 at 5:50 p.m., the driver of a 2017 Jeep SUV was headed south on Highway 17 failed to yield the right way and attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway.
As the driver was attempting to turn, the driver of a 2017 Nissan SUV, was headed North on Hwy 17 in the same area.
The driver of the Jeep then crashed into the Nissan SUV. Three people were inside the Nissan. Two, the driver and a backseat passenger, was transported to a local hospital. A front seat passenger was killed during the collision.
We’re told the passenger killed was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to a local hospital, as well.
