BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Late Friday evening on January 12th, the deputies of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling in the area of Cambridge and Manchester Roads in the Sangaree area of the county. Due to multiple complaints about drug dealing in the area.
While observing the traffic in the area, a deputy observed a vehicle pull into a poorly illuminated area and shut the lights off while the occupants did not exit the vehicle.
The area is know to be the location for drug transactions.
When the deputy turned their marked Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle around, two males exited the rear of the vehicle and proceeded on foot. The deputy got out of with the driver, Brook Ann Lansing and observed a large bag of green plant-like material by her feet.
The material field tested presumptive to be marijuana, 240 grams in weight.
Lansing claimed to own the material and would not cooperate on identifying the males who fled on foot. The material was in multiple bags, accompanied by a scale that is commonly used for drug transactions.
Also a silver revolver in the vehicle. The revolver appeared to be a .357 Magnum with a 4″ barrel turned out to be an all-metal Bear River air pistol.
Lansing was arrested and booked into the Hill Finklea Detention Center pending warrant issuance and a bond hearing.
