North Charleston family escapes fire

The Red Cross was called to assist a North Charleston family after an early morning house fire on Monday.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. at a home on Louise Drive.  By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to the attic.

Crews doused the fire quickly, containing most of the damage to the rear of the home.  The four residents all made it out safely.

There was no immediate word on how the fire started.
