RESTAURANT REPORT CARD: 3 B grades, 1 C grade December 14-20

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) — The Department of Health and Environmental Control gave out 59 A grades in Charleston County the week of December 14-20.

Red’s Ice House in Mount Pleasant now has an A grade after an inspection following its B grade last week.

This week, three restaurants in North Charleston all received B grades from DHEC inspectors.

China Max Cuisine on Northwoods Boulevard was inspected December 18 and received a B. Photos show cold foods stored warmer than the required 41 degrees, including cooked chicken stored at 61 degrees.

The report shows boxes of raw chicken were stored on the kitchen floor.  Other photos show shelving, walls, ceilings and cooking equipment have excess debris.

A follow-up inspection will be performed by December 28.

Grand Buffet and Seasons of Japan, both in North Charleston, also received B grades this week. However, DHEC inspectors awarded them with an A grade upon a follow-up inspection.

In Dorchester County, Summerville Country Club now has an A, but earlier this week received a C grade for not correcting some violations found in a previous inspection. On December 18, a DHEC report shows Summerville Country Club corrected the violations and were given an A.
