Suspect arrested for Attempted Murder

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – On December 14th, 2017, detectives with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested Michael Dionne Bennett.

Bennett, 31, of Hanahan, was sought out for an arrest warrant for Attempted Murder from November 26th, 2017 shooting. He is believed to have approached the victim, who was walking on Seagreen lane, in the Goose Creek area.

It is said that Bennett had produced a handgun and as the man attempted to escape, he fired the handgun, striking the victim several times.

During the arrest today, a .40 caliber Springfield pistol, was located, the handgun was found to be stolen  An additional warrant will be issued for Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Bennett was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where he will await bond hearing.
