Despite the republicans quest to wipe it out, the Affordable Care Act is still the law of the land. Even with some dramatic rate increases..enrollment numbers for Obamacare are outpacing last year …but that pace is deceiving.

Right now.South Carolina is in the top 15 in enrollment.

So far, 84,868 South Carolinians signed up for coverage in 2018.

That contributes to the nearly four million nationwide who will be covered next year.

Despite numbers running ahead of this time last year, a shortened enrollment period could lead to the final number falling short of last year’s 12.2 million.

The enrollment numbers will get a big boost when current plans automatically renew for next year. Speaking of that, experts say you shouldn’t let that happen without at least shopping the plans.

Some states are extending the enrollment period, but South Carolina is not one of them. You have until December 15th to get insurance through the ACA. If you’re uninsured you face a penalty.
