1 dead, 6 injured in wreck on I-95 in Clarendon County

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a deadly wreck, Friday morning.

Troopers say the incident happened near the 113 mile-marker on I-95 northbound at around 3:10 a.m. on December 8.

The driver of a 2017 Honda SUV, while headed north, left the left side of the road, struck a tree, and overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Six other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to S.C. Highway Patrol spokesman Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.

One person reportedly had “serious, non-life threatening injuries,” Jones added. Medics transported all to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

We are working to learn the identity of the victim from the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.
