Construction closure at Summerville intersection starting on Monday, Nov. 27

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The through traffic closure of King Street Extension between Discher and Hackemann continues through December. The detour signage for the King Street Extension Closure is in place to direct through traffic to Meeting Street Road and Spruill Avenue via Discher and Hackemann.

In addition to the King Street closure, the intersection of Austin Ave. and Summerville Ave will be closed to all Dolphin Cove, Summerville Avenue, and Rosemont neighborhood traffic starting the morning of Monday, November 27 and continuing for several weeks.

Traffic to and from the Rosemont neighborhood and Dolphin Cover Marina will be directed to Hagood Avenue. Summerville Avenue traffic will be directed to Discher.

Due to the size and contents of trucks coming to and from Liquid Transport, these trucks will not be detoured through the Rosemont neighborhood.  They will be provided access on a temporary haul road to King Street.

These closures are necessary for crews to continue installing drilled shafts, columns, and pier caps along King Street for the new Meeting Street and Port Access Road ramps to and from I-26.
