SUMMERVILLE,S.C.(WCBD) – A Summerville man is facing charges of domestic violence and resisting arrest after an hours long standoff Monday night.
The standoff began around 6:30 p.m. after Charleston County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the 3000 block of Fletton Way. When officers arrived, a woman told them that she had been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend.
According to Lt. Rita Avila Zelinsky, the suspect, 37-year-old Ismael Galvan, barricaded himself in the home and refused to speak to deputies.
As the situation dragged on, the SWAT team was called in to negotiate with Galvan. Zelinsky tells News 2 that officers made several attempts to contact Galvan.
When those efforts failed, the SWAT team gassed the home and forced their way inside. Galvan was arrested at about 12:40 a.m. No one was hurt during the standoff.
The woman who filed the complaint against Galvan is said to be recovering.
Galvan is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
