Authorities search for suspect involved in armed robbery, chase in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — North Charleston Police are searching for the person involved in a high-speed chase following an armed robbery.

Authorities say on Friday, June 16 at 4:52 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery in progress at the Quality Inn on North Arco Lane.

The victim told investigators that someone banged on her motel room door. When she opened it, a man pushed his way inside with a gun and demanded money.

The suspect was able to find around $300.

While the suspect was going through the room, the victim escaped toward the lobby to call authorities.

After informing investigators that two males jumped into a silver four door car, she told authorities that the car did not leave the parking lot and may still be parked in the area.

Officers found the vehicle and a chase started from Arco Lane to Tanger Blvd. The suspect then made his way to International Blvd.

After traveling onto I-526 and then I-26, the suspect got off of the Ashley Phosphate exit.

His final destination, according to the incident report, was Teder Street. It was there that the suspect immediately got out of the car and ran.

He is still at large.
