One person injured following home invasion in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — One person is recovering following a home invasion in North Charleston Tuesday morning.

North Charleston Police responded to the 5700 block of Nelson Street for a possible break-in with shots fired at 1:27 a.m. on April 18.

The victim told officers that he heard someone knocking on his front door. When he answered, the suspect(s) kicked open the door, and shot him once in the leg.

Following the incident, the suspect(s) fled the scene.

Medics transported the 34-year-old victim to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.

A .45 caliber shell casing was also found by detectives.
