Protect yourself while you’re out walking or running

We have seen dozens of complaints over the last few days from women who say they feel threatened while exercising or playing with their children in our Lowcountry parks.

We sent News 2’s Ashley Yost to talk to a self-defense expert. He shows you the steps you can take so that you are prepared when you are out walking or running alone.

Luke Manquen is the head instructor at Charleston’s Best Self Defense. He teaches the course at Charleston Taekwondo in Mount Pleasant. Friday he gave us the crash course on how to prepare yourself if you are in a situation where you feel threatened.
