KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD)– Kiawah Island is hosting the 39th annual Kiawah Island Marathon on Saturday. About 4,000 runners are expected to attend the event and they picked up their gear on Friday.
Lows in the 30’s are not stopping any of the runners from completing their goal. Some runners said they preferred to run in the cold and think the weather will improve their performance.
“I love running in the cold, it is so much better. I am from Missouri so I am used to running in the cold weather,” said one runner.
For many this marathon is a tradition too special to be hindered by the weather.
“I have been coming out here for 25 years, we have started in the rain and we have started in the cold its just something you do,” said runner John Pazdan.
