Dutch Fork denies Fort Dorchester in Lower State Final

IRMO, S.C. – As sweet as Fort Dorchester quarterback Dakereon Joyner has been on the field, there was no sugarcoating his team’s performance Friday night.

“We got manhandled tonight,” said the junior after his team was dealt a season-ending 49-24 loss. “We thought we were prepared but we weren’t.”

The Patriots (12-2 overall) travelled to Irmo hoping to avenge a September loss by Dutch Fork (14-0).

Joyner and the P-men started out on the right foot, taking a 7-0 lead after the first possession and a 17-14 lead in the second quarter, only to see the Silver Foxes take control and never let up.

Fort Dorchester’s season ends while Dutch Fork advances to play Boiling Springs in the 5A State final on Saturday, December 17 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
