Summerville High School dedicates gym to Charleston 9

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — Summerville High School is hosting its first home basketball game of the 2016  season, and dedicating the main gym in memory of former Green Wave Coach Louis Mulkey and the Charleston 9.

The former basketball coach died on June 18th, 2007 in a fire at the Sofa Super Store that would claim the lives of nine firefighters.

The main gym will be known from here forward as “The Fire House” in honor of the Green Wave alumnus an former coach, the post read .

In addition to signage around the outside of the gym a wall within the gym is dedicated to Louis’ memory.
