GREENVILLE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – Severe storms left a path of damage from Anderson County through Spartanburg County Wednesday afternoon.
Thousands of people were also left without power near Simpsonville.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter in Simpsonville for families affected by the storms.
The shelter is located at the Reedy Fork Baptist Church at 3115 Fork Shoals Road in Simpsonville.
A few trees are down near Highway 76, near Denver Downs, according to Taylor Jones with Anderson County Emergency Management.
There have been several reports of flooding and downed trees and power lines.
A mobile home park has been damaged on West Georgia Road, according to Greenville County Emergency Management.
West Georgia Road is now closed between I-385 and Rocky Creek Road due to multiple gas leaks and downed power lines.
Both the Simpsonville Police Department and Simpsonville Fire Department are asking that everyone help emergency crews by staying at home and off the roads.
More than 7,000 customers were without power in Greenville County, according to Duke Energy.
