Princess Cruise Lines to pay pollution penalty

Princess Cruise Lines plead guilty to seven felony charges stemming from deliberate pollution in the sea and acts to cover it up.

The company will pay a $40 million penalty.

The cruise line, which is a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, will plead guilty to charges related to illegal dumping of oil-contaminated waste.

The charges concern the Caribbean Princess Cruise Ship which visited several US ports including one in South Carolina.
