Man arrested after stealing car from good Samaritan in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston Police Department arrested the person who they say stole a car from West Ashley.

Daniel Coggins, 30, is charged with grand larceny after stealing a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze from 5th Avenue and Magnolia Road on Wednesday, November 9.

He was arrested November 30 at a location on Ashley Hall Road.

We’re told Coggins stole the vehicle when a good Samaritan stopped to render aid in an accident and accidentally left the keys in the vehicle.

Authorities later found the stolen car.

Coggins is currently being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
