Timberland, C.E. Murray still in the hunt for state title

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The opponents get better every week and while we are only three weeks into the SCHSL football playoffs, only three schools are left to represent the Lowcountry.

In 5A, Fort Dorchester is sneaking up on no one as they look to repeat at state champions. The Patriots play Conway in North Charleston on Friday.

In St. Stephen, Timberland is a school synonymous with winning. Art Craig’s team is only 2 years removed from calling them state champs, capturing the 2A crown in 2014. They play at defending state champ, Dillon, on Friday night.

In the 1A ranks, C.E. Murray doesn’t have a winning reputation that goes back to the earlier part of the decade like Timberland & Fort Dorchester, but Head Coach Brian Smith did lead the War Eagles to the state final last year, coming up short to Lamar.
