Suspect in 2012 killing on Wadmalaw Island turns himself in

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A man on the run following a shooting death in 2012 surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon.

Tyrone Laval Drayton, 31, had three outstanding warrants for murder, kidnapping, and weapons possession during a violent crime. Drayton surrendered to the US Marshals Task Force in the lobby of the Al Cannon Detention Center on November 29 without incident.

Witnesses told investigators that Howard and another man abducted Adrian Lyles from his apartment on March 28, 2012. Lyles‘ body was found the next day on Grans Avenue on Wadmalaw Island.

Authorities say Lyles had been shot 10 times, with three different guns.

Kevin Lamar Howard, 28, was convicted of murder, kidnapping, and burglary on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Broderick William Seay Jr., 22, was charged with murder. Police say Seay had been with Howard when police arrested him during a traffic stop in Summerville on April 1, 2012.

A bond hearing was set for Drayton for 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 29.
