Mount Pleasant, SC (WCBD) — At Christ Our King Church, selling Christmas trees is nothing new. They’ve been doing it for 35 years. These trees however, are more than just decoration. They are a way to provide educational resources to kids at Christ Our King’s school.
Organizers say that most of the proceeds go towards providing resources for the students, and supplies for the classrooms. It’s one of their biggest fund raisers of the year.
They say that volunteers look forward to it all year long. Excited by the Christmas spirit and the opportunity to give back to the community.
Before 9 a.m. on Friday, a tractor trailer carrying 484 Fraser Firs pulled onto the lot. Volunteers-who run the stand-helped unload and stack them. They tell News 2 that nearly all of the stacks will be gone in just a few weeks.
The trees range from 6 feet to 14 feet and prices start at 55 dollars, but families that we talked to say that it’s the tradition-not the price- that keeps them coming back every year.
