Suspect arrested in Murrells Inlet bank robbery

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office arrested the person responsible for a bank robbery in Murrells Inlet.
Joshua Paul Santerre, 39, of Myrtle Beach is charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and threatening to use a destructive device.

Authorities say on Wednesday, November 23 at 4:11 p.m., a man walked into Sun State Bank bank and showing a note, demanding money. He also placed a suspicious cylindrical item onto the counter, according to a news release.

The suspect grabbed the note and an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank heading south on HWY 17.

Santerre was arrested ¼ mile from the bank. He’s currently being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
