Hundreds of people ate Thanksgiving dinner thanks to East Cooper Meals on Wheels. Early Thursday morning, more than 50 volunteers got together to pack up the food. Afterwards, drivers loaded the meals in their cars and brought them to door to door to people’s homes.

The organization serves anyone who is homebound, regardless of age or income. They do this throughout the year as well as on the holidays. On a daily basis they deliver 420 meals to people throughout Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, Sullivans Island, Wando/Canoy and Isle of Palms.

East Cooper Meals on Wheels partnered with The Harbour Club of Charleston and Christ Church Mount Pleasant to provide Thanksgiving dinners to their recipients. The Harbour Club raised over $1,000 and provided traditional Thanksgiving Day items. Members from Christ Church Mount Pleasant prepared the dishes. On Thanksgiving, they provided more than 1,000 meals. They also gave Thanksgiving pantry bags with all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings for people to use for the holiday.
