CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — 100,000 people traveled in and out of the Charleston International Airport during Thanksgiving week in 2015, and they are expecting similar numbers in 2016.

One traveler, Regina Talbot, says, “I thought that it wouldn’t be as hectic the day before Thanksgiving, but I’m mistaken. It is very crazy.”

Travelers at the airport Wednesday say they are expecting headaches, they are preparing for lines, and they are asking all other travelers to just be patient.

One person, Brian Almquist, says, “There will be a lot of people that are upset and want to get to where they are going. There’s going to be delays and I know there’s some weather problems around the country.”

But some families are less concerned about the stress of the journey, and more excited about reaching their destination, like one local family who is traveling to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to be on a float for the 7th year.

Debbie Beodeker says, “So excited. It’s electrifying the minute you step out onto the parade route it’s like you say to yourself, I’ve been watching this all my life and now I’m part of it so it’s real exciting and seeing all the kids along the route and they just are smiling and wanting to high five and it’s just very exciting.”

If you are traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday week, airport officials recommend you get to the airport 90 minutes to two hours early to make sure you can go through security and get to your gate on time.
