CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston Basket Brigade is a local nonprofit provides Charleston Tri-County families in need with Thanksgiving meals. Families are provided with all of the ingredients to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal for a family of six.
Organizers wrote in a press release, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to do this for someone else one day.”
The goal is to raise $105,000 to feed 3.500 local families in need with Thanksgiving meals. It takes $30 to feed a family, and 100 perfect of all donations are utilized to purchase food.
In addition, there are several opportunities to volunteer at the Charleston Area Convention Center Exhibit Hall C, located at 5000 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston. Volunteers are needed for several different duties.
- Set up and box assembly: Monday, November 21, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Meal assembly: Tuesday, November 22 at 7 a.m.
- Meal delivery: Tuesday, November 22, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Clean up: Tuesday, November 22 at 10 a.m.
