Driver killed in crash after striking a tree and light pole

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — On November 20, 2016, just after 5:00 a.m., Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to investigate a single car fatality.

According to deputies, it happened on Highway 17 near McConnell Drive. According to initial reports, a 2002 gray Nissan Altima was travelling at a high speed, when it ran off the road to the right off Highway 17 Southbound in front of Boone Hall.

The Altima struck a tree and a light pole before flipping over. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office is investigating this accident.
