2 police officers hurt, 4 children dead in Indiana house fire

FLORA, Ind. (WISH) – Two police officers were taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter, and four children died in an early Monday morning house fire in Carroll County, according to the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. The fire broke out in Flora, which is about 25 miles east of Lafayette.

According to the Flora Police Department dispatch, the fire happened in the 100 block of East Columbia Street in Flora around 3:30 a.m.

The Carroll County Coroner has been called to the scene.

24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WLFI, was told four children and a woman were inside the home. There is no word on the woman’s condition yet.

WLFI said two officers were flown by medical helicopter. One was taken to St. Joe Burn Center in Fort Wayne.

Police said the fire is out.
