Kensington Elementary principal receives surprise award from American Heart Association

Kensington Elementary ‘s principal received an extra special surprise during the News 2 Cool School award presentation.

Jamie Thompkins received the Administrator with Heart award from the American Heart Association and Society of Dance and Recreation.

The school participates in Jump Rope for Heart every year.  Last year they raised more than 6-thousand-dollars to help a child in the community.

Mrs. Thompkins says her physical education teachers, students, and PTA all  work hard, and she credits them for the school’s success with Jump Rope for Heart.  “I didn’t expect this. I thought we were coming out for one purpose.  Y’all pulled one over you did well.  I’m excited.  It’s all of us.  We all work hard to do this. I feel very honored and very humbled that you would think of me in this capacity. Thank  you so much.  I appreciate it.”

Congratulations Mr.s Thompkins and KES!
