SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – As wildfires continue to burn in western NC the smoke is now widespread over western NC, Upstate SC and not moving.
The light breeze is not strong enough to move the smoke out and will continue make breathing conditions difficult.
At this time the national weather service is collaborating with South Carolina’s Department of Health and Environmental Control to see if an air quality alert should be issued for the Upstate.
There is an air quality alert for all of western NC.
This includes unhealthy breathing for sensitive groups.
We will keep you updated if any alerts are issued for South Carolina or northeast Georgia.
