GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – Deputies are warning the public of a scam in the Upstate.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says there have been reports of a male suspect in northern Greenville County, and Pickens County, who knocks on citizen’s doors and represents himself as emergency personnel.
Deputies say the suspect asks for monetary donations for the fire departments involved in the fire at Pinnacle Mountain.
At this time, deputies say the only description available of the suspect is a male.
“This particular individual is trying to talk himself into homes to ‘evaluate’ the safety of your home,” deputies say.
Authorities say emergency personnel have proper credentials and travel in marked emergency vehicles, and don’t seek monetary donations from private citizens.
