HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCBD) — A murder suspect has been arrested, after investigators found the victim’s truck riddled with bullet holes.
Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 8300 block of Willtown Road in reference to a shooting. According to dispatch, the person who called picked up the victim, who as identified as Wayne Bennett, on Willtown Road and took him to the fire station at 6488 Highway 162.
When deputies arrived at the fire station, they saw a gunshot wound to the Bennett’s head. EMS also responded, and took Bennett to MUSC, where he later died. According to deputies, Bennett had a large amount of money on him.
Officials found and inspected Bennett’s truck, which was riddled with bullet holes.
According to an affidavit on the case, deputies suspect Robert Henry Campbell Jr. of Bennett’s murder. A witness told officials they saw Campbell in possession of a firearm and shooting at Bennett’s truck as he was attempting to leave the scene.
At a bond hearing on Tuesday, a judge set bond at $100,000 on the possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Campbell was denied bond for the murder charge.
