MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) — The Berkeley County School District (BCSD) is scheduled to conduct an active shooter training exercise at Sangree Intermediate School on Thursday.
The exercise is being put on in partnership with the Berkelely County Emergency Preparedness Department and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Parents at Sangaree Elementary, Sangaree Intermediate, and Sangaree Middle Schools as well as the surrounding community have been notified of this simulation so that they will not be alarmed due to the increased presence of emergency personnel in and around the area on Thursday morning.
During the simulation, Sangaree Intermediate will follow its safety procedures and protocols. As this exercise will take place during a school day, it has been planned with the safety and security of students and staff in mind. The simulation will last only a few hours resulting in minimal disruption to the normal school day and no delay to the regular dismissal.
The event begins at 8:30 a,n, on Thursday, November 17, at Berkeley County schoools. Meet at Sangaree Intermediate School, located at 201 School House Lane in Summerville.
