Fire crews rescue woman from apartment fire

Charleston, S.C (WCBD)- Charleston City Fire is investigating a structure fire that occurred on Drake Street & South Street Sunday morning.

The call came in around 4:10 a.m. on Sunday. Charleston City Fire, Police, James Island Fire and North Charleston Fire Department were all dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived crews saw a woman calling for help from a second floor window, where the fire was coming from. They were able to rescue her.

She was taken to MUSC where she was treated for smoke inhalation.

Charleston City Fire says the fire started in the kitchen of an apartment and they were able to keep it contained to just that area.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
