North Charleston, SC (WCBD)- Last Saturday morning, a family of three adults and five children were displaced after a fire on Durant Avenue in North Charleston.
The Red Cross sent disaster-trained volunteers top assist the family and provide temporary lodging as well as replacement clothing, food, and comfort kits.
On average, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster in South Carolina every four hours.
Last year alone, the Palmetto South Carolina Region assisted 7,100 people affected, the majority by home fires.
