Woman’s body discovered in Hanahan closet

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A woman’s body was found in an apartment in Hanahan on Tuesday, November 8, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Coroner Salisbury responded to the apartment on Mabeline Drive and found the body of Melanie Rivera, 39, stuffed in the closet.

The investigation revealed Rivera was in the closet for more than 24 hours.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, November 10.

The Berkeley County Coroner, Hanahan Police and SLED are investigating the death.
