Absentee voting underway in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — There were steady streams of voters waiting to cast their ballots at the Charleston County absentee poll locations.vote2

Almost 50,000 people have already voted in Charleston County. There are 250,000 registered voters in the county. The turnout has surpassed record absentee voting numbers in the 2008 election year.

There are 17 reasons to qualify for absentee voting including work schedule, vacation, and age. Voters over the age of 65 and anyone with a handicap are encouraged to use curbside voting.

Absentee polls in the area will not be open this weekend. They will however be open on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
