The small town vote: Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCBD) – It is that time of year when Summerville is blooming. The Flowerton festival has long been over, but the election has political opinions blooming in town.

We asked folks which presidential candidate they would vote for in fruit form.

“I might take the apple,” said one voter after a long pause. “Because the apple is more healthy for me than the orange,” he laughed.

Other voters did not hesitate when asked. “Orange because I want him to win,” said Myra Crutchfield, “the apple is dishonest – it’s what ruined the Garden of Eden.”

“Sometimes with an apple you don’t know if you’re going to get sweet or if you’re going to get tart,” said Eric Dyke, “I want to go with something I can trust.”

Bryan Dubay says he is on the fence, but he will make his decision on Election Day. “I don’t think that either one of them are going to make this country any better than it is right now,” said Dubay.

“I think it’s a fruit salad,” said Dennis Ashley, “the perfect metaphor for the mess that this country is in.”
