A competition between Clemson and USC is going to help South Carolina food banks restock their shelves.
It’s the Palmetto Series food drive that’s going on now. The contest is to see which school’s fans can bring in more non-perishable food or money and it benefits the Harvest Hope and Golden Harvest food banks.
The Palmetto Series was already scheduled but it’s happening while the food banks have sent out more than 1 million pounds of food in response to Hurricane Matthew.
Jamie Peebles – Harvest Hope Food Bank: “We’re up over 800,000 meals just in response to the hurricane, so the Palmetto Series is really coming at a perfect time to help us kind of restock our pantries so we can help the people in the community restock theirs as well.”
You can donate food items at BiLo grocery stores in Anderson and Clemson or the Columbia area and at locations on the Clemson and USC campuses.
