CHARLESTON, S.C. – You could hear the momentum roaring from the Ashley Hall bench after three sets.
Franny Slay’s squad was only one set from calling themselves SCISA State Champions and dethroning Porter-Gaud, winners of the past six state titles.
But the Cyclones, led by senior Lexie Dorminy and her 22 kills, stormed past Ashley Hall in the fourth and then took home a 15-4 victory in the decisive fifth set.
“It’s the best feeling I have ever felt in my life,” said Dorminy, who will play volleyball at Clemson next year. “Four years in a row and to pull it off after an 0-2 loss from Ashley Hall during the regular season and to come back and fight that hard in the fifth game, I don’t even know how to describe it.
