5 displaced following apartment fire in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — One person was treated for smoke inhalation, and a firefighter suffered minor burns, after a duplex apartment caught fire in North Charleston.

Firefighters from the North Charleston and Charleston Fire Departments responded to a reported structure fire on Tuesday morning.

The call came in at 6:45 a.m. Crews arrived to the scene in the 3700 block of Meeting Street Road.

Fire crews say they saw smoke pushing through the eves of a single story duplex apartment. The fire was contain within 10 minutes, according to North Charleston Fire officials.

Five residents have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
