MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — Another big fundraiser is underway for the Special Olympics.
Law enforcement officers left from Caesars Head State Park Wednesday morning for the annual torch run. Instead of going on foot, they’ll be biking all the way to Mount Pleasant.
“I felt amazing and I hope other people get to do it,” said Kayla Mabry who competes in Special Olympics.
“It makes you push harder,” Steve Rhea with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said. “It makes you not worry about how tired you are or how sore you are, you just realize that every stop along the way you’ve got people like her that’s waiting to see us and cheer for us and you know, a couple days of grinding it out makes it all worth it.”
They hope to raise $10,000 this trip.
