Dorchester Co. announces temporary changes to tree removal permit process

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – In an effort to expedite the tree permit process for residents who have damaged/leaning trees as a result of Hurricane Matthew the below temporary changes have been made to the tree removal permit process.

Tree removal permits applications and/or a brief description of the damage/reason for the tree removal request and photographs of the tree in relation to any/all structures can be submitted via email to Sharon Sharpe at

Upon receipt the application and supporting documentation review process will be expedited and the permit will be sent to the requesting resident via email.

The temporary change for expedited review will remain in effect until March 10, 2017.

Tree removal applications may also be submitted in person to the Dorchester County Planning & Codes Enforcement Department located in the Human Services Building at 500 N. Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
