Teen’s charges upgraded in Townville school shooting

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A teen accused of shooting two elementary school students and a teacher after gunning down his father now faces additional charges.

The 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office announced Monday that an attempted murder charge has been upgraded to murder against the 14-year-old suspect in the Townville Elementary School shooting.

Prosecutors said the suspect has also been charged with a third attempted murder charge for a recently identified child victim, as well as five counts each of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Students and one teacher were wounded in the shootings on Wednesday. Authorities say the teen murdered his 47-year-old father before opening fire outside the school.

A spokesman with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has said that one student was shot in the leg, another student was shot in the foot and the teacher was shot in the shoulder.

Jacob Hall was critically wounded. A bullet struck the 6-year-old in a main artery is his leg, causing a major brain injury due to  “catastrophic” blood loss, a doctor said. Jacob died Saturday at Greenville Memorial Hospital. His mother, Renae Hall, said a superhero funeral is planned for her son.

A service to celebrate Jacob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Baptist Church.
