Charleston, SC (WCBD) – A committee of South Carolina Senators will host a forum on gun issues Monday night in downtown Charleston.
The event is part of a series of public hearings held across the state.
Senators want to hear varying perspectives from the public on their gun views, they want to hear from those negatively impacted by guns as well as gun advocates.
Last month the first hearing was held in Greenville, Jennifer Pinckney, the widow of the late Clementa Pinckney addressed the panel of state senators on improving gun legislation in South Carolina.
During her speech, Pinckney referenced the shooting at Mother Emanuel Church where her husband and eight other parishioners were shot and killed last June.
The public hearing will happen from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the College of Charleston’s Stern Center Ballroom.
