Six people shot in downtown Minneapolis

(CNN) – Six people were shot early Monday morning in two separate shootings in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Authorities said it started around 2 a.m. Monday after someone opened fire outside of the city police department’s downtown precinct.

Police officers who heard the gunshots responded to the scene immediately where they found two men who both sustained gunshot wounds to the leg.

According to Minneapolis Police Spokesman Corey Schmidt, officers found a handgun in a parking lot near that shooting.

Authorities say 15 minutes later officers heard multiple shots a block away, this is where they found four victims–three men and one juvenile–wounded when they arrived.

One of the victims was shot in the chest and is currently listed in serious condition at a local hospital.

No suspects have been identified in the first shooting, authorities have taken a man into custody in connection with the second shooting and are working to see if that suspect has any ties to the first shooting.

Authorities say all six victims have remained uncooperative with the investigation.
