Summerville man arrested in connection to chain of vehicle break-ins

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — A Summerville man is scheduled to appear in bond court on Tuesday mornning, after being arrested in connection to a string of car break-ins that occurred in early October.

Through a joint investigation between the Summerville Police Department and Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, William Steely, 21, was linked to numerous auto break-ins that occurred in the Germantown, Shepard Park, Tea Farm and Halycon Estates neighborhoods.

Numerous vehicles were broken into in the Summerville area on Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, 2016.

According to Summerville Police, all of the vehicles were unlocked.

A bond hearing for Steely is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

 

The following items were removed from the unlocked vehicles:

Shepard Park:

  • Undisclosed amount of money
  • 1 pair of headphones and 1 lunchbox
  • Undisclosed amount of money
  • 1 vehicle entered but nothing was stolen

Tea Farm:

  • 1 purse and wallet

Germantown:

  • 1 GPS unit and an undisclosed amount of money

Halycon Estates:

  • 1 vehicle entered but nothing was taken

Summerhaven:

  • 1 handgun
  • Undisclosed amount of money

Miler Country Club:

  • 1 handgun, 1 iPad and an undisclosed amount of money

White Gables:

  • 1 bookbag and miscellaneous tools

Surrounding areas:

  • 1 Radio and 1 iPod
  • Undisclosed amount of money
